Hello everyone!
Welcome to the blog! Today, I'm taking you behind the scenes of a new project I've just started: the Aerobase (B101) 1/144 scale Wright Flyer Etched Model Kit.
As you know, I'm passionate about delivering high-quality model kits. But what you might not know is that I also love building models myself! It's important for me to understand the products I sell, and there's no better way than to get hands-on and build them. In this "Work-in-Progress" (WIP) series, you'll get a peek at my workbench and the process of assembling these intricate kits.
The Aerobase Wright Flyer is a fantastic example of a highly detailed etched kit. For those unfamiliar, etched parts are very thin sheets of metal with precise details etched into them, allowing for a level of realism that's difficult to achieve with traditional plastic molding.
Right out of the box, you can see the incredible detail in the brass etched sheets. This kit truly captures the delicate framework of the original Wright Flyer. The instructions are mostly in Japanese, but they come with clear and concise diagrams, which makes the assembly process straightforward even if you're not fluent in Japanese, like me.
One of the first steps is carefully separating the delicate parts from the sheet. This requires a sharp modeling knife and good quality tweezers. Precision is key! You can see some of the parts I've already started working on, such as the wing structural elements. It's fascinating to watch these flat pieces of metal transform into a three-dimensional representation of such an iconic aircraft.
I'm really excited to bring this piece to life and will keep you updated on my progress. In the next post, we'll dive deeper into the assembly of the main wings and fuselage, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, if you have any questions about this kit or any of our other products, feel free to reach out. Happy modeling!
Robert
